Kindergarten Olympics for Caden

I was able to help out with Caden's class a lot this year. I was a co-room mom. April J. and I switched babysitting weekly so that we could work in the classroom.

The Kindergarten Olympics is a special field day for the Kindergartners, since they don't have a graduation ceremony for them. I helped out with the decorations and stayed for the morning to help out with the activities.

Caden with his teacher Ms. Z. (Miles also had her for kindergarten and she is a wonderful teacher, who really loves the kids. Unfortunately, she lost her job at the end of the year because of the budget cuts.) Showing off his soccer skills at one of the stations.Devon, Ryan and Caden. Caden and Ryan are very similar in interests and personality.

It was a fun morning. They kids played games, had lunch and each received an Olympics medal & certificate (which I designed and made for all 90 kindergartners).

Miles finishes the 3rd grade

This year went by far too quickly. Miles did great in 3rd grade. He continues to do well in math and is improving his reading skills. I think having Mrs. Key as his teacher was a great fit for him.

Miles with his 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Key. I think they look like they could be related. He finished off the school year with a field day and a song flute concert.

Wish Bear

Caden was the Star of the week at school this week. He got to bring home Wish Bear. A tradition with his Kindergarten teacher that Miles got to do too. Wish bear is the one with the Giants hoodie on.

This is what Wish Bear wrote:
"I got to go home with Caden this week. As soon as we got in the car we drove to Applebee's for some lunch. Caden ate a lot of chicken fingers and fries. The rest of the week I got to hang out with Caden and his family. This is the second time I have got to hang out with the Doll Family. I came home with Miles (Caden's big brother) in 2006! We watched the Steelers win the Super Bowl Sunday night. I also got to be there for Caden's birthday. We ate pizza, ice cream cake and opened presents. It was a good night. Caden likes to play his Wii. He is really good at bowling, baseball, Mario Kart and his Cars game. I wish my paws were bigger so I could hold a Wii remote so I could play with him. When Caden was at school, I hung out with Caden Jr. and Miles Jr., my fellow Build-A-Bear buddies. We watched Sports center together and talked about our Bay Area sports teams. Of course, I am a Giants fan. Caden Jr. is an A's fan, and Miles Jr. is a Warriors fan. I had a great time at Caden's house."

Padawan Caden vs. Darth Maul

Caden was also picked to be in the show. He got in line, instead of sitting down after his first time, so he fought Darth Maul twice. Pretty funny.

We went to the Jedi Training Academy at Disneyland. Both Miles and Caden were picked to be in the show.

Pinewood Derby '09

Miles participated in the pinewood derby this year for scouts. His car won "Most likely to fly away." His car had the fastest time of the night, but took 4th overall. Tim put in a lot time to make the car look pretty cool.

Disneyland here we come ... again!

We are going to Disneyland, we are leaving in 12 days and counting. I don't know who is more excited: me or the boys. (We have to go before our season passes expire on Jan. 27th).

The other day Alexandra was in her room and grabbed her little bank and said "Minnie Mouse." I was so excited!

It should be a fun trip and I am looking forward to having a few days away from home.
